QUESTION: I am planning on building a fence. Do I need a permit?

ANSWER: Yes. The Building Code does require a permit for fences less than 6' in height and in residential districts, and fences are not allowed over 6' in height. You will need Zoning Department approval and must file the building permit application and site plan.

QUESTION: I am planning on remodeling my basement into a family room and will not be making any structural changes. Do I need a permit?

ANSWER: Yes. Several items will need to be discussed with the Building Department. Such as proper headroom, lighting and ventilation, etc. It is advised to bring your plans into the Building Department well in advance of your start date to discuss your project with the Inspector.
